Thomas W. Emerson, beloved husband and best friend for more than 61 years to Carol A. Larson, passed away at their home on Sunday, April 28, 2019. In addition to Carol, surviving to grieve are their Tom "Tommy", his wife Jeannie Atkiel Emerson her son Matthew Joseph Bauerle who was adored by his step-"Grandpa Tom". He was predeceased by his and Carol's son Scott. Tom's death has left his two sisters, Patricia( the late George) Peterman and Beverly John) Holzkampf and their families heartbroken. Because of the loving man he was a surrogate dad to the children of his sisters and those of childhood friends, Gert and her late husband Harry Miklasz. Tom was born in Chicago on June 19, 1938 to the late Kenneth and Lillian (Daley) Emerson. He and Carol were married on October 19, 1957 and lived in and around Chicago until Tom was drafted in the U.S. Army He served in the Transportation unit at Ft. Sill OK. Tom lived life to the fullest, using every God-given second enjoying being with Carol, Scott, Tommy and Tommy's wife and grandson. Also being with extended family brought him so much joy. There could not be even one person who met Tom and didn't become his friend. An avid sports fan he played golf, bowled and was an intense fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. In addition to family mentioned, Tom is survived by and will be sorely missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, too numerous to mention without forgetting someone. The world has become dimmer since Tom left us.
